"East Meets West"

Annual FHOS Luncheon at Wynstone Country Club

The sun shone on another very successful "Friends of the Home of the Sparrow" fundraiser on April 13th, 2011 with almost 100 guests in attendance. Everyone enjoyed a morning of shopping followed by a delicious lunch. "East Meets West" was the theme, complete with Japanese decorations, live orchid centerpieces and an Asian fusion lunch menu.

This year we featured seven local vendors including: Rise to the Occasion, TSG Designs, Vicki's Gifts, Acacia Organics, Art Zings, Just Say Cheese and B.V. Adams Ltd. "Best of the Nest" also returned showcasing a selection of items from our Sparrow's Nest Stores. Our vendors' selections included jewelry, decorative serving plates, clothing, accessories, organic personal care items and home decorative items. It was a lively morning with lots of enthusiastic shoppers. Each vendor generously donated a portion of her sales to Home of the Sparrow as well as donating an item for the raffle table. Raffle items were also donated by Abt Electronics, Julie Reitsch, Jill Davis, Bonnie Murray and PL8 Restaurant.

During lunch we had the pleasure of hearing from Nancy Hiatt, CEO/President of HOS, Debbie DeGraw, VP Marketing/PR & Development of HOS, and Mary Taradash, President of the HOS Board of Directors. They spoke about the Mission of Home of the Sparrow, of Hope, Opportunity and Support, as well as sharing personal success stories of some of the HOS residents. This was followed by a call to action for our support, and then the raffle.

Thank you to the very helpful staff at Wynstone Country Club for helping Friends of the Home of the Sparrow host this important fundraising event. And a very special thank you to all of our generous guests that continue to support Home of the Sparrow!
