Home of the Sparrow (HOS) opened its doors to their first shelter on December 15, 1986 and was incorporated on February 17, 1987. This was the first shelter for homeless women and children in McHenry County, called the McHenry County Interfaith Shelter, opened to a family – a single mother and her children.
If you donate to a worthy cause, including Home of the Sparrow, Gail’s Family Treasures will donate a painting to YOU!
In light of the severe weather and cold temperatures, additional support to shelter the homeless has been set up. If you or someone you know is homeless and/or living in places unfit for human habitation, please contact Hope Takes Action at (815) 385-3251. This emergency service will remain available until the temperatures increase to above
