Thank you for thinking of Home of the Sparrow. At home of the Sparrow we accept donations of gently used or new items of furniture, clothing, shoes and accessories, housewares, books and toys. We reserve our trucks for large furniture pick-ups but our Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores are happy to receive any bags or boxes of smaller items. Due to increasing waste disposal costs, please look at list below for items we will not accept.
Furniture Donations
Non-acceptable Donation Items
- Sleeper sofas (with pull-out beds) and water beds
- Used mattresses (will accept ONLY brand new in original packaging)
- Beds, bed frames, headboards, footboards, box springs
- Cribs
- Baby Car Seats
- Pianos /Organs
- King Size Headboard and Frames
- China Cabinets
- Upholstered items that have major tears, stains, or sun-damage, or missing parts. Furniture has to be free of water, mold and smoke damage.
- Exercise equipment
- Any type of computer equipment (such as computers, laptops, printers, monitors, fax machines)
- Large Appliances & TVs (some exceptions if under 5 years old)
- Lawn and Garden equipment (lawn mowers, trimmers, snow blowers)
- Hazardous chemicals/materials and paint
- Used Outdoor grills (we do accept new)
- Entertainment centers
- Encyclopedias and Textbooks
- Desks larger than 48″ across

Furniture Pickup Details:
- Nominal $10 fee for furniture pickups due to the increased price of fuel.
- Scheduling based on availability, Tuesdays-Saturdays 7:30 am-4:30 pm. Two hour windows provided to donor when pickup is scheduled.
- Pickups must include large, gently used furniture.
- Can make pickups inside the home. Furniture must be on the first floor with no more than 7 stairs up or down. Pickups from upper floors must have elevator access.
- Items accepted based on condition (gently used). Crew has final say on all items being donated.
- All Furniture preferably assembled at the time of the pickup or disassembled to the point it can be easily reassembled (all components must be attached).
- No furniture pickups from Senior Living or Assisted Living Facilities.
- Donations may be dropped off at any of our Thrift Stores from 10am-4:30pm, Monday-Saturday.
