General Cash Contributions

Attend HOS Events

HOS’s annual fundraising events provide needed revenue to support our mission, women and children, and services. You can have fun while helping the clients of HOS achieve self-sufficiency. Check out the drop down tabs under “EVENTS” in the menu bar or click here to see HOS’s events calendar.

Hold a Community
Fundraising Event

Businesses, clubs, individuals, and organizations can host community fundraising events to benefit HOS. Previous events include walks/runs, social media fundraising campaigns, restaurant nights, auctions and raffles, fashion shows, car shows, luncheons or dinners, and more! Interested? Download and sign the Community Fundraising Event Inquiry Form and email to AGluth@HOsparrow.org.

Hold a Donation Drive

Before hosting a donation drive for items on HOS’s Shelter Needs Wish List or for a special project, please call HOS at 815-271-5444 to check what items the agency is currently in need of. Then download and sign our Donation Drive Inquiry Form and email to AGluth@HOsparrow.org.

A Bequest – Leave a Legacy

Leave a legacy by remembering Home of the Sparrow in your will, estate plan or other long-range financial arrangement. Your legacy gift can assist you and your family through tax benefits and reduced estate and income taxes. Your bequest can leave real estate, stocks, certificates of deposit or a life insurance policy.

Sparrows Nest Thrift Stores

When you shop at or donate to any one of our Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores you have the satisfaction of knowing your proceeds are supporting Home of the Sparrow programs and services. You are helping homeless women and children achieve self-sufficiency.


Home of the Sparrow is always in need of housing. You can donate land, housing or offer rental opportunities within McHenry County.

Memorial & Tribute Gifts

A thoughtful and appropriate way to honor a loved one in sympathy or as a living memorial. Or a perfect way to celebrate accomplishments or draw attention to special occasions such as birthdays, Bat/Bar Mitzvah, anniversaries, weddings, Mother’s Day, graduations, etc.

Corporate Partnerships

Social Media Support

Be an advocate and share Home of the Sparrow’s content with your family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube! By sharing our posts and following us on social media, you have the power to spread more awareness about homelessness and Home of the Sparrow’s mission.

Foundations & Corporate Grants

 Home of the Sparrow relies on a large portion of financial support from charitable grants. Corporate, Foundation and Family Foundation grants provide the support to expand and sustain our programs.

Payroll Deduction Plans

 Ask your employer if you can contribute through a payroll deduction plan. Often times employers offer this as a way of contributing with a corporate matching gift.

Involve Your Church

Churches often partner with Home of the Sparrow by providing volunteers, hosting wish list drives, hosting community fundraising events and/or by donating money towards supporting the mission of Home of the Sparrow.
