Check out the individual, business/group, and high school volunteer opportunities in the sections below. Every day, Home of the Sparrow volunteers makes a difference in the community. Every year, Home of the Sparrow has over 750+ individual volunteers who dedicate over 74,250 service hours, and 200+ group volunteers who dedicate over 924 service hours! Volunteers are the backbone of the agency and dedicate their time and talents volunteering at Home of the Sparrow’s fundraiser events, Headquarters Office, housing unit and shelter maintenance, yard work at the housing units, and at the Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores and Community Threads. Individual Volunteer Opportunities

High School Volunteer Program

Are you a high school student between the ages of 14-18? Do you need volunteer hours for NHS, a class or to graduate? If so, it’s easy to volunteer at one of our Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores!

Click the link(s) below to sign up for a spot at a thrift store near you, AND print/complete the Liability, Confidentiality, and Photo Release Form above. Please bring the printed and signed form with you the first time that you volunteer. You do NOT need to complete our full Adult Application.

Note: Our High School Volunteer Program is NOT for Court Ordered Community Service Hours.

Business Partnerships & Group Volunteer Opportunities

Event Day Volunteers

Your business or company can provide event day volunteers for Home of the Sparrow’s three annual fundraising events.


Donation Drives

Host a donation drive at your business for items listed in Home of the Sparrow’s Shelter Needs Wish List.


Employee Giving

Develop an employee giving/match program for employees to donate to Home of the Sparrow.


Corporate Service Days/Group Projects:

• Power washing exterior of our shelter and housing units.
• Yard work – brush cleanup, gardening, weeding, spreading mulch, and raking leaves.
• Staining play equipment and fences.
• Patching and painting interior rooms.
• Writing thank you notes to donors.
• Addressing and stuffing envelopes.


Community Awareness and Speaking Engagements

Invite Home of the Sparrow to speak to your company, church, school or group to raise awareness about our organization, and share our current volunteer opportunities.
