Kevin Campbell, Vice President of Retail for Home of the Sparrow (HOS) will be retiring, July 3rd, which will be his last day. We would like to thank Kevin for his nine years of service to the agency. Kevin Campbell started at HOS in 2011 with a significant background in retail.
Prior to joining HOS, he held the position of Senior Buyer at Sears Holdings where he was responsible for automotive categories in both Sears Auto Centers and Kmart stores. Prior to working for Sears, Campbell was employed by Albertsons for over 28 years where he held management positions in merchandising, training and store operations.
When Kevin came to Home of the Sparrow in 2011 Home of the Sparrow only operated four Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores. Kevin’s accomplishments include opening three stores, Algonquin, Mundelein and Third Lake locations, expanding furniture pick up days and in 2018-2019 acquiring Community Threads Upscale Resale which added to the lineup of stores to total eight. The Thrift Stores have provided high visibility of the agency to the community as well as act as a gathering spot for volunteers to build relationships while helping Homeless Women and Children.
Kevin was not only a leader in the agency but amongst his peers. He was the Vice President of the National Association of Resale and Thrift Stores (NARTS). Though his affiliation with NARTS, he held several training sessions for current and emerging Resale/Thrift Stores to help them with start-up or provide current trends in the market.
Kevin’s leadership was a significant part of the agency’s growth over the years and we are grateful for his years of service for his contributions towards helping Homeless Women and Children achieve self-sufficiency.
All of us here will miss Kevin and will not forget his contributions to Home of the Sparrow. Please join us in wishing Kevin all the best in his retirement. An Open House is Scheduled for July 2, 2020 from 10:00 am – 3:00 p.m. at the HOS Main Office, 4209 W. Shamrock Lane, Unit B, McHenry, 60050.
